Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos at Villa La Estancia

Dia de Los Muertos is a time for family and friends to join together to lovingly remember those who have passed on before us. Together, family members create altars to honor the deceased. Known as ofrendas in Spanish, colorful and vibrant altars are constructed in homes and in graveyards. Did you know that Día de Los Muertos origins are based on ancient pre-Columbian traditions? In fact, Day of the Dead practices have been around for more than 2,500–3,000 years.Originally, the event was celebrated during the summer months, but the date was moved to the fall to coincide with the Western Christianity traditions of All Saints Eve, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day. Nowadays, November 2nd is the official Día de Los Muertos holiday. On that day, friends and family gather together and visit the gravesites of their loved ones. There, they share stories about that person and even stay all night long celebrating their life together.

Día de Los Muertos Altars

Day of the Dead altars, or ofrendas, are carefully constructed to honor the deceased. In fact, altars and ofrendas are believed to safely guide the deceased on their spiritual journey into the afterlife. In downtown Puerto Vallarta just south of Villa La Estancia, elaborate ofrendas will be on display on the Malecon boardwalk for visitors and residents to enjoy. With bright colors and designs, altars will contain mementos, framed photos and food and drink that the deceased loved. In addition, altars are decorated with calaveras or skulls, and bright and beautiful aztec marigold flowers. Lastly, the centerpiece of the altar will feature a framed photo of the deceased. These altars are a special tradition that wonderfully showcases the best of Mexican culture. Together, families will spend many hours together and even stay overnight at the altar site remembering their loved one. Despite the seemingly morbid theme of death, Día de Los Muertos is actually a lively and upbeat holiday that everyone will enjoy.

At Villa La Estancia, we sell luxury beachfront residences that are located on the best beach in the area. Plus, the relaxed lifestyle and culture is attractive for expats who want to have a better quality of life. Life is meant to be enjoyed. In the past, people would look forward to moving to Mexico at retirement age. These days, more and more people are deciding that they want to start living their best life right now. Do you want to move to Cabo? If so, read the below tips before you go.

Move to Cabo: Tips Before You Go

  • Prepare VISA Paperwork Ahead of Time

To start with, there is immigration and residency paperwork that needs to be completed in your home country before you leave. It is important to make an appointment with the Mexican consulate in your area, and start there. Depending on your income status, you can apply for the standard tourist visa or a residency visa if you want to stay long term. Now, it is required to have your residency paperwork in order before you arrive in Mexico. Once you have been issued a residency visa, you are able to finish the process when you arrive in Mexico.

  • Pack Lightly

A lot of people that move to Mexico focus on the things they can’t find in Mexico that they have back home. However, the majority of modern conveniences are now available in Mexico. Plus, many people will find that they don’t need many of the items that they are used to having in the States or Canada. Part of living as an expat in Mexico means adapting to a new culture and relaxed lifestyle. As a result, there is less focus on material goods and more importance placed on quality of life. A great meal spent with friends is way more important than having the latest car or electronic. If you want to worry about what really matters, pack lightly and begin living a more simple and carefree existence.

  • Invest in Real Estate

If you plan on living part time or full time in Mexico, it makes sense to invest in real estate. For example, beachfront real estate in Cabo is still affordable when compared to beachfront homes in the US or Canada. In Cabo, the Villa La Estancia is a top choice for expats. Our modern hotel-condo concept property is super luxurious. We have a limited number of private beachfront residences for sale. That way, you can plan your day around what you want to do instead of wasting time on repairs to your home.

Do you want to move to Cabo? The truth is, it’s a great place to live. There is so much more to Cabo besides just beautiful beaches. For example, there are lovely neighboring towns that are an easy day trip away. In addition, quality healthcare is affordable and Cabo real estate is still accessible. Villa La Estancia: Safety is Priority #1

Villa La Estancia: Safety is Priority #1

We at Villa La Estancia are so happy to continue to provide excellent service for beloved homeowners and resort guests during these difficult times. While our property closed temporarily in early summer, we have updated health procedures at the property in order to combat the COVID-19 virus. Our staff has worked very hard to create a safe environment for resort guests and second home owners. We want you to always enjoy your time in Mexico and stay safe, too. Our new safety standards and policies will help keep everyone safe. If you want to invest in a dream second home in Mexico, we are just what you’ve been looking for. Keep reading below about how our homeowner and guests safety is our number one priority.

Villa La Estancia: Safety is Priority #1

In order to prioritize our homeowner and resort guests’ safety, Villa La Estancia took advice from infectious disease specialists. Likewise, we obtained certification from companies including PREVERISK that specialize in preventative protocols to make sure we were taking all the necessary precautions. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of disinfection, hygiene, and sanitation at our property. In addition, we created an integrated Health and Hygiene Program that followed advice from health organizations. Also, our food and beverage department employees have been trained on proper handling and service of food and beverage items. We also made modifications to in-room dining and buffet-style services, too. The safety of our Villa La Estancia homeowners, guests and staff is our number one priority.

New COVID-19 Cleaning Processes

Villa La Estancia has updated our cleaning processes to keep our properties clean and safe. For example, Villa La Estancia homeowners and resort guests can expect the following new processes when they arrive for vacation:

  • Suitcase sanitization with sanitizing products.
  • Security seals that validate no one entered a residence after it was cleaned and disinfected.
  • Temperature Readings: Thermometers will be used to monitor the temperatures of property owners, resort guests, and staff in a non-invasive manner.

In addition, high-touch surfaces in common areas are now continuously treated with hospital-grade disinfectants and certified sanitation products. Likewise, sanitizing stations are placed at strategic points such as the front desk, restaurant entrances, and in public areas. We have created a special team of sanitization specialists trained to make sure homeowners, resort guests and staff members all follow the new protocols. Residences are regularly cleaned and sanitized using hospital-grade disinfectants. To limit unnecessary contact, we have removed all paper amenities, pens, and magazines from rooms until further notice. If you need something, you can still request it from our front desk staff. We believe our updated cleanliness and hygiene protocols will best protect homeowners, resort guests, and staff.

Social Distancing Is Required

As social distancing has been shown to reduce the likelihood of transmission of virus, we have made corresponding changes at the property. For example, there is signage throughout the property reminding homeowners, guests and staff to keep a safe distance from others (2 meters is considered a safe distance). Also, we rearranged common area furniture and restaurant tables to allow for more space between guests. Lounge chairs in the pool area have been rearranged to be at least 6 feet apart, too. We also have stricter sanitation measures in place at the gym, too. Make sure to reserve your work out time in the fitness number as only a limited number of guests are in the gym at once.

Onsite Medical Services

In the event a suspected case of COVID-19 is found at the property, we have special protocols in place. We have an onsite doctor and medical service available 24 hours a day. Also, we create a team dedicated to detecting and handling suspected COVID-19 cases that will work together with health officials as needed. To minimize direct contact between guests and staff, certain services such as valet parking and direct meal preparation will not be available right now. As you can see, Villa La Estancia has made many changes to guarantee vacation safety for our homeowners and guests.

More than ever, Villa La Estancia is committed to provide a safe vacation home for homeowners and resort guests. We remain dedicated to providing the same level of superior service and hospitality that we are known for. Are you looking for a second home in Mexico? If you are, contact us today. We have full and fractional ownership options available, too. Our luxury beachfront residences could be your dream vacation home in Mexico. Make sure to inquire about our Try and Buy program. COVID Real Estate Advice – Read This

Many people are curious whether COVID crisis has adversely affected the housing market. Is it a good or bad time to buy or sell? Some people think prices are going to tank. On the other hand, others believe that the housing market will actually experience a boom in the next few months. Are you in the market for luxury beachfront real estate in Mexico? If so, Villa La Estancia in Riviera Nayarit is an expat favorite. It’s perfectly situated on one of the most beautiful beaches in Banderas Bay. Many expats find their dream vacation home at Villa La Estancia. While it is impossible to know what the future will bring, keep reading below about COVID real estate advice.

COVID Real Estate Advice

There are various opinions on how real estate will be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. To begin, the latest data is showing that home prices and buyer demand are actually on the rise. It could be that people are reevaluating their priorities and deciding to move to a new location? Specifically in Mexico, second home purchases are still in high demand. Individuals are seeking a comfortable vacation home where they can safely stay with loved ones. As social interaction is limited right now, an enjoyable space to share with close knit circle of friends and family is very important. In addition, the value of access to outdoor spaces and beautiful views has significantly increased as well. Therefore, many homebuyers want properties where they will love to spend their time. For example, beachfront homes and mountain homes are in high demand right now.

Low Interest Rates

A huge factor behind many home sales is due to low interest rates. Right now, interest rates are at record lows. As a result, homebuyers will save tons of money in interest over time. Plus, many people are now able to afford a mortgage that wouldn’t have been able to otherwise when rates were higher. Low interest rates is one of the driving forces behind the strong housing market right now. When you add up the savings, a lower interest rate means thousands of dollars over time. Likewise, lower interest rates reduce the cost of monthly mortgage payments making home ownership more affordable. As a result, the housing market remains strong as first time homebuyers are able to buy property right now.

Virtual Home Tours

Some people may not want to buy or sell a home due to fear of coronavirus exposure. Throughout the world, stay-at-home and social distancing mandates were implemented to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Likewise, many in-person home showings and open houses were cancelled. However, there are modern technology systems that allow homebuyers to safely view potential homes virtually. For example, virtual home tours are an easy way to check out a new home for sale if you can’t visit in person. Likewise, sellers can reach more buyers using videos or live video interaction to virtually show a property. In addition, more properties can be viewed in person right now as many restrictions are slowly being lifted. For in person viewings, real estate agents and homebuyers are taking extra precautions to stay safe. The use of face masks and social distancing are essential in order to stay safe while searching for a dream home.
