4th Annual Surfcasting Tournament in PV

On May 30th, 2021, fishermen will have the opportunity to participate in the 4th Vallarta Surfcasting Tournament at Dorada Beach, which is also known as the MalecĂłn beach. 4th Annual Surfcasting Tournament in PV

On May 30th, the 4th Annual Surfcasting Tournament will take place in Puerto Vallarta. For visitors or residents that live in Banderas Bay, make sure to add to your calendar so you can check out this fun event. The competition will commence at 7:00am and conclude at 2:00pm. If you are interested in signing up, there is a 200-pesos-registration fee. Also, the first 100 participants who register will also receive a commemorative t-shirt. In order to be a part of this event, participants need to register at 6:00 am on the day of competition at Los Arcos del MalecĂłn in Puerto Vallarta.

Tournament Details and Location

William Casillas and Sergio GutiĂ©rrez are overseeing this year’s event. They have reported that in this year’s edition there will include various categories, but all fish protected by current laws must immediately be released. The minimum weight to present species will be one kilogram. The Fishing Area will be located between where the MalecĂłn starts next to Hotel Rosita to the Cuates y Cuetes restaurant next to Los Muertos Beach Pier. In terms of prizes, the first place winner will be awarded 10,000 pesos, and the second and third place will be awarded with fishing articles.

Have you heard that the 2021 Optimist North American Championship will be hosted in Banderas Bay? Yes, that is true! Currently, there are sailors from twelve different countries who have already confirmed that they will be participating in the 2021 Optimist North American Championship event. The 2021 Optimist North American Championship (OPTINAM) will begin on May 29th thru June 5th in Riviera Nayarit. At that time, hotels, restaurants, and airlines began slowly opening up services throughout Mexico with new COVID protocols in place. For example, many businesses in Mexico have added extra health and sanitation protocols so that visitors are safe to vacation. Depending on the number of COVID cases, many resorts have limited capacity restrictions. In addition, properties such as Villa La Estancia have added health and safety protocols which include temperature checks when guests arrive at the property. In addition, the residences are deep cleaned and sanitized with hospital grade disinfectant. Lastly, social distancing is regulated throughout common areas and restaurants along with the use of facemasks, too.

Are Beaches and Restaurants Open?

Right now, the majority of beaches in Mexico are open. However, capacity may be limited and operating hours can change depending on case numbers of COVID in the area.
